MPG Tips - Driver Keith Collins

The cost of fuel, and the use of it, can make or break a trucking company.

Although drivers can’t do anything about the cost of fuel, drivers choices on how they drive can have a big impact on bottom-line fuel economy.

We are creating videos at different locations with drivers who have demonstrated a strong drive to squeeze every mile possible from a gallon of fuel resulting in exceptional fuel economy. We are asking them to share their tips in achieving more miles per gallon on every trip.

In this video, we are talking with Keith Collins, a driver for our Cleveland, TN facility, domiciled in Jackson, MS. Currently Keith has our best MPG average in Cleveland at 7.57 miles per gallon!

To watch this video and more have a look at our YouTube channel or the Employee Video library found here on our website (login required).

@Gregory - thanks for your comments sir. You are correct that there are some elements of the fuel economy that are out of your control, especially when you are not the only driver in the truck. The heart behind these videos is to share with our driver base some tips from drivers that are in trucks that are performing well in hopes that the information shared can help us all. What we are trying to encourage is that each driver take responsibility for the factors of the fuel economy that he or she can control. Have a great day sir.

THIS IS GREAT MPG WHEN NO OTHER DRIVER DRIVES KEITH'S TRK. SINCE HE IS BASED IN JACKSON MS.I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY MPG UPFOR ALONG TIME AND TURNING MY TRK OFF @ STOPS AND EVEN WHEN ON BREAKS,ONLY TO FIND WHEN THEY PUT SOMEONE IN THE TRK FOR ONE TRIP IT JUMPS THE IDLE TIME BACK UP.I GUESS THE RESULT IN THIS PROBLEM IS LACK OF RESPECT FOR OTHERS?
