Back to School
posted on August 24, 2012 17:10
Summer is over, and school is back in session!
Did you know that an average of 139 deaths occur each year in school bus related accidents and school zone accidents? This statistic is one that needs serious attention from everyone who is in control of a motor vehicle.
Please make sure you are on full alert when entering a school zone or meet a school bus while driving.
REMEMBER
:
Young children are small and a driver's view maybe blocked by the bus or other vehicle
Children can be impulsive and may dash out unexpectedly
Children cannot judge vehicle speed
Children don't realize the danger posed by a moving vehicle
Children just expect that a vehicle will stop.
Once again, safety can be a matter of a split second! Please help reduce this sad statistic by honoring and passing along these basic safety tips with regard to school zone safety.
