As we approach the last month of 2010, FirstFleet wanted to offer one last reminder to all associates the opportunity to enroll in the 401k Plan for 2011!  As you have heard the past two months, if you have not enrolled in the 401k Plan in the past, you can do nothing and still be enrolled with an automatic contribution weekly of 4% that will start in January 2011.  Morever, you can also act now and contribute at a % or $ that best fits your needs.   Everyone has the opportunity to enroll at any % or $$ amount they are comfortable contributing to their 401k account.  ...

The Truckload Carriers Association has named one of our very own as it’s most recent Highway Angel! William Whitehead out of our Cleveland, TN terminal recently witnessed a passenger vehicle collide with a deer, lose control and come to a stop in the median where it caught on fire. Bill made sure the passengers got out of the car and assisted in extinguishing the fire.   Bill says “I have a daughter who is a single mother, and I hope someone would help her out if she ever needed it”.   For his efforts above and beyond Bill has received the Highway Angel certificate, a lap...

All drivers need Space and Visibility to avoid hazards while driving. 8-12 seconds of eye lead time is recommended at all times. If visibility is reduced because of fog, rain, snow, or sleet, make the adjustment and slow down! Chances are good that if you don’t see an obstacle soon enough – you will hit it!

We have added a new feature to our website - a video library. To start with we have added a couple of great selections.  Cummins has provided us with a video, ”Driver Training 2010” that encompasses new information on what the new Cummins engine does for you, the driver, and how to take advantage of these features.  The other video covers DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) and how the Aftertreatment system works. Both of these are VERY important.  ALL operations personnel need to be very familiar with these systems.  Diesel has just reached a new two year high! Please take advant...

October 17-23, 2010 the CVSA and FMCSA will be promoting commercial driver safety through the Operation Safe Driver campaign. Through enforcement and education of both commercial and non-commercial drivers the CVSA hopes to improve the safety performance of everyone on the road. Look out for increased roadside inspections and enforcement of dangerous traffic violations such as failure to wear seat belts and aggressive driving. Don’t give them a reason to stop you!

I wanted to remind everyone that you may increase your voluntary life insurance by $10,000.00 without providing evidence of insurability.  You may elect coverage up to five (5) times your annual income, but only $10,000.00 of your new elected amount is what is known as guaranteed issue.  Anything more than $10,000.00 will require you to submit a form known as an Evidence of Insurability form (EOI) to Reliance Standard.  If you meet with a benefit counselor during your location's meetings, if you attempt to elect an increase of more than $10,000.00 the benefit counselor...
